Job summary

VASS UK&I is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer in London to design, develop and maintain payment systems and platform services. You will build microservices using Java, Spring Boot and modern messaging APIs, while ensuring scalability and reliability in a fast-paced agile environment.

The role requires 5+ years of software development experience, strong knowledge of REST/GraphQL, databases, and cloud platforms such as AWS.

Qualifications

• At least five years of Java software development experience.
• Experience with Spring Boot and microservices.
• Experience with messaging systems, ideally Kafka and another technology such as RabbitMQ or IBM MQ.
• Experience integrating APIs using REST and GraphQL.
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience developing systems using agile methodologies.
• Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills.
• A proactive approach and the ability to learn quickly.
• A completed bachelors degree in systems engineering, computer engineering, mathematics, physics, economics, business administration, or a related discipline.
• Desirable experience: knowledge of UK or international payment standards, including ISO 20011, SWIFT, and MX messaging
• Desirable experience: experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Desirable experience: knowledge of AWS or another cloud platform
• Desirable experience: experience with performance-testing tools such as Gatling or JMeter
• Desirable experience: familiarity with Jira and Confluence
• Desirable experience: DevOps and continuous-integration experience using tools such as Gradle, GitHub Actions, and Sonar
