Job summary

RE Partners in London seeks an experienced and opinionated Java Developer to join the high-performing engineering team, building low-latency, high-throughput payments systems.

You will design scalable real-time services using Core Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs, while mentoring engineers and shaping architecture.

This hybrid UK role offers opportunities to work with OpenShift, AWS, MongoDB, and modern messaging patterns in a demanding payments environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years Core Java development with performance/memory optimization.
• Expertise in Spring Boot and microservices.
• Proven experience building low-latency, high-throughput systems.
• Hands-on experience with XML, message parsing, and transformation.
• Deployment experience on OpenShift and/or Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of MongoDB/NoSQL patterns.
• Experience in payments, financial services, or banking systems.
• Strong communication skills in an engineering-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and build low-latency, high-throughput backend systems with Core Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop RESTful APIs and microservices powering secure payment workflows.
• Work with XML-based messaging standards used in financial transactions.
• Deploy and scale apps on OpenShift and AWS.
• Integrate MongoDB and other datastores; optimize data access.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Product, and QA teams.
