Job summary

Elastic, the Search AI Company, seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the Elasticsearch team. You will ensure core infrastructure is scalable, secure, and easy to use, contributing to serverless orchestration, CI/CD workflows, and platform tooling.

You will lead cross-team projects, design low-level abstractions, and collaborate with Elastic users and open source communities to accelerate development and deliver reliable software.

Qualifications

• Experience crafting APIs and tradeoff reasoning.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
• Proficient in core Java and concurrency concepts.
• Hands-on CI/CD experience (Buildkite, Argo CD, GitOps).
• Proven track record leading large-scale engineering efforts.
• Ability to own projects end-to-end with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to large, impactful projects that evolve core infrastructure.
• Improve developer productivity via automation and workflow integration.
• Design and implement horizontally scalable features and APIs.
• Address performance and concurrency challenges with solutions.
• Enhance observability and operator experience of cloud systems.
• Collaborate openly with Elastic teams and open source projects.
• Support engineering teams with complex issues and investigations.
• Own operational investigations end-to-end until resolution.
