Job summary

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch team in the UK. You will design, implement, and maintain foundational infrastructure that keeps Elasticsearch fast, secure, and scalable for developers worldwide.

You will own projects end-to-end, collaborate across teams, and help drive performance, observability, and reliability across cloud and on‑prem deployments.

Qualifications

Strong Java expertise including concurrency and standard libraries.
Experience designing APIs and trade-off reasoning.
Hands-on CI/CD experience with Buildkite, Argo CD or similar.
Experience leading large-scale projects across engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Contribute to core Elasticsearch infrastructure.
Identify automation opportunities and integrate agentic apps.
Design and implement horizontally scalable features and APIs.
Address performance and concurrency challenges with solutions.
Improve observability and operations of cloud systems.
Collaborate openly with Elastic and open source projects.
Own end-to-end operational investigations until resolved.
