Elastic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Elasticsearch team to ensure shared platform functionalities are easy to use, performant, maintainable, and secure.

You will contribute as a strong individual contributor and lead cross-team projects, designing scalable features, improving observability, and collaborating with open source projects.

This role emphasizes autonomy, design excellence, and the ability to communicate technical concepts across teams in a distributed company.

Qualifications

• Experience designing APIs and evaluating tradeoffs.
• Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Proficient in core Java and concurrency features.
• Hands-on with CI/CD systems and practices.
• Experience leading large-scale engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to large projects evolving core infrastructure.
• Improve developer productivity via automation and workflows.
• Designing and implementing new features and APIs in Elasticsearch.
• Address performance or concurrency issues and propose solutions.
• Improve operation and observability of cloud systems.
• Collaborate openly with the ES team, Elastic users, and open source projects.
• Support our support engineers with difficult problems.
• Own investigations end-to-end until issues are resolved.
