Job summary

Turnitin is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Java for remote work in the UK (Or Newcastle, UK). You will be part of the Integrations team, delivering integrations with external partners and in-house components, while mentoring junior developers.

You will design, develop, and optimize features with a focus on performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, collaborating across product, design, and QA teams to ship high-quality software that helps students worldwide improve their writing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience designing and developing applications using Java.
• Relational databases and SQL experience (PostgreSQL).
• CI/CD tooling experience (Jenkins).
• 1+ year of cloud development with AWS.
• Frontend familiarity with React/Angular/ES6.
• Experience writing unit/integration tests and API tests.
• Ability to collaborate in an Agile, cross-functional environment.
• Familiarity with Git and distributed version control.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on developer responsible for analyzing requirements, designing software, and implementing features.
• Collaborate with Architects, Product Managers and stakeholders to deliver value.
• Mentor and coach junior developers as needed.
• Develop integrations with external partners and in-house applications.
