Job summary

Involved Solutions is recruiting for a Senior Java Developer on a 12-month contract to work on a major UK Government programme. The role is hybrid, with 60% office attendance in Manchester, Leeds or Birmingham.

You will lead Java development hands-on, mentor the team, and drive engineering standards while collaborating with architects, product owners and multidisciplinary teams to deliver scalable, cloud-based solutions using Java, Spring Boot, AWS and Kafka.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Extensive AWS and cloud-based app development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases.
• Proven ability to lead technically and mentor junior/mid-level developers.
• Experience setting engineering standards, best practices and quality.

• Experience delivering scalable solutions in complex Agile environments.

IR35: Inside

Clearance: BPSS - must be eligible for SC

The Role:

A major Central Government programme is seeking experienced Senior Java Developers to join a digital delivery team.

You will provide hands-on technical leadership across Java development, while mentoring other developers and helping to drive engineering standards and best practice across the team.

Experience & Requirements:

• Strong commercial experience developing applications using Java and Spring Boot.


• Extensive experience with AWS and cloud-based application development.


• Strong hands-on experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.


• Experience working with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases.


• Proven ability to lead technically and mentor junior/mid-level developers, providing guidance and conducting code reviews.


• Experience setting and promoting engineering standards, best practices and quality across development teams.


• Ability to work closely with architects, product owners and wider multidisciplinary teams to shape robust technical solutions.


• Strong experience delivering scalable and maintainable solutions within complex Agile environments.


• Government or large-scale digital service experience is desirable.
