Job summary

Client Server Ltd. in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a Backend Software Engineer (Java) to modernise a complex trading system. You will join onsite, leading backend Java development for real-time, secure trading platforms.

The role requires strong multithreaded Java skills, knowledge of financial markets, and experience with high-performance systems. Familiarity with Claude AI is a plus, and a 2:1 degree in Computer Science or equivalent is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong backend, multithreaded Java development experience.
• Knowledge of financial markets and trading systems.
• Understanding of real-time system development and latency.
• Comfortable using AI tools such as Claude.
• Collaborative and client-facing communication skills.
• Curious with strong problem-solving abilities.
• C++ understanding is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Transform a legacy C++ trading system into a modern Java-based application.
• Collaborate with Front Office trading teams and engineers to deliver real-time trading systems.
• Contribute to robust, secure backend systems using Java and Claude.
• Work onsite at the Newcastle office on a full-time basis.
