Job summary

Client Server in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a senior, hands-on Java Developer to transform a complex C++ legacy trading system into a modern Java-based platform.

Qualifications

• Strong backend, multithreaded Java development experience.
• Strong knowledge of financial markets, trading systems.

• Excellent client-facing communication skills.
• Curious with advanced critical thinking and problem-solving.
• C++ knowledge is beneficial but not essential.
• Minimum 2.1 BSc in Computer Science or similar from a Russell Group university.

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong backend, multithreaded Java development experience
• Strong knowledge of financial markets and previous experience working on trading systems
• Good understanding of real-time system development and latency
• Comfortable using AI tools such as Claude
• Collaborative and pragmatic with client-facing communication skills
• Naturally curious with advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• An understanding of C++ would be beneficial but is not essential
• Minimum 2.1 BSc in Computer Science or a similar technical discipline from a top-tier / Russell Group university, backed by As at A-level
