Job summary

Citigroup in London seeks a hands-on Java developer to design and build high-performance, low-latency algo trading platform components. You will collaborate with Traders, Quants, and Product Managers to translate requirements into scalable software.

The role requires strong CS fundamentals and experience with Kafka and messaging, Chronicle/Aeron, and distributed caching. Hybrid work up to 2 days at home; competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on Java development experience in low-latency, high-throughput systems.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, OO programming, and algorithm analysis.
• Experience with Solace and Kafka messaging.
• Experience with Chronicle and/or Aeron.
• Experience with distributed caching.
• Proven track record in market data and trading applications.
• Experience building back-testing frameworks and handling historical data.
• Linux performance tuning and troubleshooting in Java/Linux stack.
• Familiar with Gradle, Git, TeamCity, Jenkins, Artifactory.
• Strong academic background in CS/Engineering.
• Excellent communication and teamwork in distributed global teams.
• Self-motivated with a drive to deliver.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop reusable algo trading platform components, with a focus on high performance and low latency.
• Collaborate with Traders, Quants, and Product Managers to translate requirements into software enhancements.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of core algorithmic components.
• Work with wider eTrading Teams and Production Support to maintain live trading systems.
• Adhere to engineering standards and best practices.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.
