Job summary

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the UK’s largest collector of official statistics, delivering critical data for economic and social insight. The Digital Services Directorate develops and operates key technology and services used to deliver statistics to the public and government.

We seek a Senior IT Service Manager for the Statistical Business Register division to shape support for SBR phase 1 release and plan subsequent phases, ensuring managed resources, capacity and robust IT

Qualifications

• Strategic leadership experience guiding cross-functional teams and services.
• Strong focus on user needs and service quality.
• Experience analysing business requirements and turning them into IT service plans.
• Ability to take ownership and drive initiatives across multiple transition phases.
• Ability to apply a strategic view to long-term service improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of secure, reliable, high-performing IT services aligned to business priorities.
• Provide strategic leadership to technical teams, service functions and suppliers.
• Own and govern IT Service Management processes (incident, change, release, asset, configuration).
• Establish, manage and report on SLAs, OLAs and KPIs with data-driven improvements.
• Act as senior escalation point for major incidents to minimise disruption to live services.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders and delivery teams to ensure alignment.
• Manage day-to-day service delivery balancing performance, risk and improvements.
• Drive continual service improvement through automation, data analysis and governance.
