Senior IT Security Officer – Permanent – Birmingham/Hybrid

Hybrid working – this role requires 2-3 days per week in Snowhill, Birmingham

Salary – this role is offering up to £45k + 15% flex fund.

Role Overview: The Senior IT Security Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining security controls to enhance security capabilities within the IT Security, Compliance, and Identity functions. The role involves protecting assets, systems, and data from threats and driving continuous security improvements.

Key Skills & Responsibilities:

1. Managing live security incidents, conducting investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
2. Providing strategic guidance on threat identification, analysis, and mitigation, leveraging industry insights and staying updated on evolving threats.
3. Detecting security weaknesses across networks, systems, and applications, and proactively addressing them.
4. Identifying IT security risks and leading audit remediation efforts to improve security posture.
5. Researching new technologies, products, and methodologies to stay ahead in the industry.
6. Applying ITIL v4, Agile, and best practices for IT service management.
7. Understanding SOC operations and incident response strategies.
8. Knowledge of firewalls, access controls, and other security measures.
9. Enhancing security through continuous service improvements.
10. Managing cyber incidents and remediation strategies.
11. Collaborating with supplier teams to improve managed services.
12. Having comprehensive experience across IT security domains, including software, servers, infrastructure, and networks.
13. Designing and implementing secure systems to protect critical assets.
14. Understanding system architectures and vulnerabilities across diverse environments.
