In addition to usual hours of work, you will be on call, and you must be flexible to work additional hours on evenings and weekends; this will be required for emergency cover and systems maintenance. Office Location: Derby head office with remote and onsite support as required at our other offices.

  • Support and maintain the firm’s Microsoft stack, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange Online, Microsoft 365, and Azure services.
  • Manage core networking infrastructure including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems.
  • Provide advanced (3rd‑line) technical support and act as an escalation point for the IT Service Desk and Infrastructure teams.
  • Ensure system monitoring, alerting, and performance reporting are in place and effective.
Project Delivery
  • Lead and deliver infrastructure projects from design to implementation, ensuring minimal disruption to the business.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of technology refreshes, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance performance, security, and resilience.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and operating procedures.
Security, Resilience & Compliance
  • Maintain robust backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions, ensuring regular testing and documentation.
  • Work to ensure systems comply with ISO 27001 and firm‑wide information security policies.
  • Manage patching, firmware updates, and configuration management to maintain security and stability.
  • Participate in regular system and security audits.
Collaboration & Leadership
  • Work closely with the IT Infrastructure, IT Service Desk and Systems Development teams to ensure cohesive service delivery.
  • Mentor infrastructure engineers and provide technical guidance to the wider IT team.
  • Contribute to capacity planning, budgeting, and procurement discussions.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
  • Significant experience in a senior infrastructure engineering or 3rd‑line role, ideally within a professional services or legal environment.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Nutanix AHV and Prism management.
