Job summary

Zopa is seeking an experienced iOS engineer to help deliver the mobile strategy and raise the bar for Swift/SwiftUI development. You will shape iOS standards across teams, design shared modules and tooling, and collaborate closely with Product, Design and Backend colleagues to enhance the banking app experience.

You will mentor peers, push for robust architectures, and contribute to CI/CD improvements and developer tooling. A fintech background is a plus in a high-trust regulatory environment.

Job description

• Partner closely with the Engineering Manager, Principal Mobile Engineer and Head of Mobile Engineering to deliver Zopa’s mobile strategy
• Help shape the technical direction and standards for iOS across Zopa
• Design and evolve shared modules, APIs, architecture and developer tooling for multiple engineering teams
• Identify technical risks early using data, profiling and observability to improve performance, reliability and developer experience
• Deliver production-quality Swift and SwiftUI code across platform and customer-facing product work
• Raise the capability of other engineers through pairing, code reviews, technical discussions and knowledge sharing
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend and Android colleagues
• Contribute to the Mobile Platform team supporting the app’s architecture, shared capabilities, libraries, build infrastructure and analytics infrastructure
• Help overhaul the Zopa banking app experience

Requirements

• Strong experience building and maintaining customer-facing iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI
• Deep knowledge of iOS development, including concurrency, performance, memory management, testing, accessibility and security
• Sound architectural and API-design judgement, with a focus on simple, maintainable solutions and an excellent developer experience
• Proactive approach to identifying problems, shaping practical solutions and influencing improvements beyond the immediate team
• Collaborative approach, including coaching, pairing and knowledge sharing
• Comfortable constructively challenging ideas while remaining open-minded and willing to change course when better evidence emerges
• Genuine curiosity about mobile engineering and the evolving iOS platform
