Job summary

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Sussex Cardiac Centre, based at Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton. You will lead advanced coronary and structural interventions, participate in primary PCI rotas, and contribute to teaching, research and governance.

The role offers a varied clinical plan with outpatient clinics, catheter lab work, and in-patient duties within a highly experienced MDT, in a nationally

Qualifications

• Basic medical degree and active GMC registration or eligibility.
• Independent PCI operator with proven PCI experience.
• Confident PPCI operator with complex intervention experience.
• Experience as a solo operator handling complex interventions.
• Ability to work effectively in multi‑professional teams.
• Commitment to teaching and clinical governance.
• Experience in audit and service development.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient clinics (2) and catheter lab sessions including structural heart and coronary work.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for patient care.
• Participate in audit, education and governance activities.
• Support Team of the Week consultant rota and acute cardiology duties (1:12).
• Contribute to teaching, research and service development.

Skills

Independent PCI operator

Confident PPCI operator

Experience as solo operator with high‑

Education

Basic medical degree

Postgraduate qualification or recognised equivalent

GMC registration or eligible within 6 months

Cardiology CCT or within 6 months of interview
