Job summary

The Environment Agency's Internal Audit team is seeking an experienced internal auditor to deliver a portfolio of complex audits across the organisation. You will drive risk-based testing, craft findings and participate in governance discussions with stakeholders.

You will work autonomously under an Audit Manager, travel to base offices in Bristol or Birmingham, and contribute to improving governance, risk management and internal controls while supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce.

Qualifications

• Chartered internal auditor qualification in progress (CMIIA/CCAB preferred).
• Strong knowledge of risk-based internal auditing per Global Standards.
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex audits within time and budget.
• Excellent written communication to produce clear reports.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a suite of complex internal audits from the annual plan.
• Design testing plans and identify risks with stakeholders.
• Communicate findings through exit meetings and formal reports.
• Travel to base offices and other Environment Agency locations as needed.
