Job summary

KPMG Manchester Advisory is seeking an experienced internal audit professional to lead delivery across a UK-wide portfolio, engaging with senior client and KPMG stakeholders to drive assurance and governance improvements.

You will develop risk-based audit plans, oversee fieldwork, coordinate cross-disciplinary input and mentor colleagues, while maintaining robust budgets and contributing to proposals and business development.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering internal audit, internal control, governance or risk management engagements.
• Experience planning and overseeing internal audit fieldwork and applying relevant standards.
• Experience managing projects, budgets, resources and delivery milestones across engagements.
• Experience acting as a main or secondary client contact with senior stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of organisational risks and controls; translate findings into recommendations.
• Evidence of producing clear reports and contributing to proposals or tenders.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day delivery and financial performance of a UK-wide portfolio, maintaining relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver risk-based internal audit strategies and annual plans.
• Lead reviews, including planning, fieldwork oversight, QA, and reporting.
• Evaluate audit evidence against professional/public sector standards and ensure well-supported conclusions.
• Present findings to clients and produce concise, actionable reports.
• Coordinate input from technology and cyber risk teams for joined-up assurance.
• Plan budgets and resources, monitor WIP, support timely billing, and seek opportunities to extend work.
• Coach colleagues and contribute to proposals, tenders and business development.
