SSE is seeking a Senior Insurance Manager to protect electricity infrastructure projects globally. You will apply your technical expertise to assess property and construction risks, shape insurance solutions and support loss resolution. Strong property loss adjusting background is advantageous.

The role sits within SSE's Group Insurance team, offering a permanent, full-time position with flexible location in Glasgow/Perth and hybrid working arrangements.

Qualifications

• Strong technical insurance background, ideally in property loss adjusting.
• Ability to analyse policy coverage, causation, damage and loss quantum.
• Experience working with insurers, brokers, loss adjusters, engineers and senior stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of property and construction insurance and risk transfer for large projects.
• Analytical judgement with attention to detail and ability to explain complex issues clearly.

Salary: Circa £80,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The Role

This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced insurance professional with a strong technical background to help protect electricity infrastructure projects across the globe. Working at the heart of capital delivery within a forward-thinking, innovative team, you’ll apply your technical expertise to assess complex property and construction risks, shape effective insurance solutions and support the resolution of significant losses. Experience in property loss adjusting would be particularly valuable.

You Will

1. Provide technically robust insurance input across large infrastructure projects from early development through execution, including review of property and construction exposures, OCIP placements, contractual risk allocation and governance processes




2. Be recognised as a technical subject matter expert and first point of contact for the business across our portfolio of assets




3. Work with the Head of Insurance and external brokers to develop underwriting information and support the marketing and placement of large capital projects in the London insurance market




4. Work with the Head of Technical and Claims to support the investigation, quantification and resolution of complex property and construction claims, working with loss adjusters, insurers, brokers, legal advisers, engineers and finance teams to maximise recovery and capture lessons learned




5. Review technical risk information and engage with project stakeholders on insurance obligations, indemnity provisions, loss scenarios and interface risks to ensure robust contractual and claims governance

You Have

1. A strong technical insurance background, preferably gained in property loss adjusting, with experience of investigating and managing complex property, construction or engineering losses




2. The ability to analyse policy coverage, causation, damage, reinstatement options and loss quantum, and to translate complex technical findings into clear commercial advice




3. Experience of working with insurers, brokers, loss adjusters, engineers, legal advisers and senior stakeholders to progress claims and deliver effective insurance outcomes




4. Sound understanding of property and construction insurance, contractual risk transfer and the insurance arrangements used for large capital projects; renewable energy or infrastructure experience would be advantageous




5. Strong analytical judgement, attention to detail and an inquisitive approach, with the confidence to challenge assumptions and communicate technical issues clearly to non-specialists
