Job summary

Garden Annexes by GX Modular is recruiting a Senior Installation Technician (Senior Fitter) to lead a 4-person installation team across the UK, installing domestic annexes from our Suffolk base. The role involves week-by-week travel, site supervision, and hands-on carpentry including 1st/2nd fix, kitchen and bathroom fitting.

You should have at least 5 years in senior carpentry, proven leadership, and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in senior 1st and 2nd fix carpentry.
• Proven experience leading a team and managing installation/site activities.
• Experience within domestic modular installation is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 4-person installation team and oversee all on-site work.
• Manage offload and assembly of timber-framed annexes using glulam and pre-cut panels.
• Liaise with customers and coordinate with the off-site Project Manager; report on completed groundworks.
• Perform fine 1st and 2nd fix carpentry, including flooring and internal doors.
• Oversee bathroom installation and kitchen fitting, plus UPVC window/door fitting and roof details.
• Travel nationwide for installations and work away from home when required.

Senior Installation Technician - Spider is advertising on behalf of Garden Annexes by GX Modular, who are looking for an experienced Senior Installation Technician (Senior Fitter) - Domestic Annexe Installations to join their growing team. This is a full-time, permanent position based from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, with nationwide travel to domestic customer properties.

About the role:

As a Senior Installation Technician (Senior Fitter), you will lead an experienced 4-person installation team, assembling and finishing high-quality, pre-cut residential annexes at domestic properties across the UK.

You will bring exceptional 1st and 2nd fix carpentry skills, combined with strong hands-on team leadership and the ability to oversee a wide range of installation activities, including kitchen and bathroom fitting. You will be a confident problem solver who can manage the day-to-day requirements of a site while maintaining excellent standards of workmanship and customer service.

Each annexe component is manufactured at the company's factory, with approximately one annexe installed each week. This role involves regular travel and working away from home when required, with paid travel and accommodation arranged.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• A hands-on role, leading and managing an experienced 4-person installation team, overseeing all aspects of work on site
• Manage the offload and assembly of timber-framed annexes using glulam and pre-cut panel components delivered directly from the factory
• Liaise professionally with customers on site and work closely with the off-site Project Manager
• Check and report on completed groundworks prior to installation
• Complete and oversee fine 1st and 2nd fix carpentry, including floor laying and internal door hanging
• Oversee bathroom assembly and kitchen fitting, alongside UPVC window and door fitting and EDPM/lightweight tile roofing

About you:

As a Senior Installation Technician, you will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in senior 1st and 2nd fix carpentry, together with proven experience leading a team and managing installation/site activities. Experience within domestic modular installation would be advantageous.

You will be a confident and capable hands-on leader with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage a team while maintaining high standards of quality and finish. Strong customer-facing skills and the ability to work independently are essential. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide and work away from home when required are also essential. Approximately 50% of installations involve working away from home. All paid travel and accommodation arranged. Monday to Friday only. Returning home each weekend if working away is ever required.
