Job summary

DXC Technology in Farnborough is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Platform Engineer to design, implement and manage enterprise-scale infrastructure for defence and aerospace operations. You will lead architecture development, define technology strategies and guide modernisation programmes in line with security and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

Extensive IT infrastructure experience in an architecture role.
Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale infrastructure platforms.
Strong background in cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, or equivalent) and hybrid infrastructure models.
Demonstrated experience with virtualization, storage and high-availability infrastructure design.
Track record of leading infrastructure modernization programmes and technology transformation.

Responsibilities

Design and define enterprise infrastructure architectures spanning compute, storage, networking and virtualization platforms.
Develop cloud strategy and hybrid infrastructure roadmaps aligned with requirements and defence security standards.
Establish infrastructure design patterns, standards and best practices across the organisation.
Lead capacity planning, scalability assessments and infrastructure optimisation initiatives.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies based on business and security requirements.
Lead design and implementation of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or private cloud) supporting mission-critical workloads.
Architect virtualization solutions, containerisation strategies and orchestration platforms.
Design disaster recovery, business continuity and resilience architectures meeting availability requirements.
Guide infrastructure modernization programmes, legacy system migrations and technology refresh initiatives.
Ensure infrastructure designs comply with security requirements, Classification Guides and defence standards.
Lead infrastructure technical teams, providing architectural direction and technical mentoring.
Establish infrastructure governance frameworks, change control processes and operational standards.
Drive technical decision-making through design reviews and architecture boards.
Document architecture decisions, design documentation and technical standards.
