What skills, knowledge, and experience will you need?

• Significant demonstrable experience of upgrading enterprise-scale macOS or other operating systems.
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of complex customer needs, with accountability for delivering quality services adhering to legal, regulatory, and security standards.
• Drive continuous improvement in processes and standards across teams and the wider DWP engineering community.
• Influential with the ability to challenge suppliers and peers on technology choices and design patterns, offering alternative views and recommendations.

Your role

In this role, you'll collaborate with Architecture and Engineering teams to ensure operational stability and innovation across critical services, including:

• Engineering Platforms supporting ~3,000 developers and testers across DWP.
• Creative Devices empowering media and video professionals.
• Data Insight Tools enhancing the Department's digital experience.
• Citizen-Facing Devices in Jobcentres nationwide, including a major refresh of ~8,500 devices across 800+ sites.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership in macOS and Jamf, contributing to continuous improvement and exploring emerging technologies.

Location: You can join us in Blackpool or Manchester, whichever is most convenient.

Hybrid Working: We operate a hybrid model—some time at home, some face-to-face in a hub.

Pay: Up to £68,517.

Pension: Civil service pension with employer contributions of 28.97%, worth over £16,000 per year.

Holidays: Starting at 26 days, rising to 31 days over time, plus up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time and public holidays.
