Senior Infrastructure Engineer for Specialist Devices (macOS)

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for Specialist Devices (macOS) for DWP Digital, you will be a member of a highly motivated team that constantly drives for excellence, delivering world class specialist devices and services.

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for Specialist Devices to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Significant demonstrable experience of upgrading enterprise-scale macOS or other operating systems.
  • Detailed working knowledge and understanding of complex and diverse customer needs, taking accountability for delivering a quality service which adheres to legal, regulatory and security standards.
  • Drives continuous improvement in processes and standards across teams and the wider DWP engineering community.
  • Influential with the ability to challenge suppliers and peers on choice of technologies and/or design patterns and offer alternative views and recommendations.

You and your role

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with Architecture and Engineering teams to ensure operational stability and innovation across a range of critical services, including:

  • Engineering Platforms supporting ~3,000 developers and testers across DWP.
  • Creative Devices empowering media and video professionals to deliver impactful campaigns.
  • Data Insight Tools enhancing the Department's digital experience.
  • Citizen-Facing Devices in Jobcentres nationwide - including a major refresh of ~8,500 devices across 800+ sites.
  • This is a unique opportunity to directly improve the digital experience for millions of UK citizens.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll also provide technical leadership in our specialist area of macOS and Jamf, while contributing to continuous improvement and exploring emerging technologies.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Blackpool or Manchester, whichever is most convenient for you.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £68,517.

Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £16,000 per year.

Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.

You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
