Job summary

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency seeks a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to guide server, hosting and platform infrastructure, collaborating with MSPs and internal users to keep critical systems secure and resilient.

Internally titled Lead IT Systems Engineer – Infrastructure, the role offers hybrid working from Fareham and Southampton with DDaT and On-Call allowances, plus Civil Service Pension contributions.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical IT support environments.
• Line management experience in IT support.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, AD/EntraID and Windows Server infrastructure.
• Experience working with third-party vendors.
• Familiarity with ITIL principles.
• Eligible to obtain UK security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for MCA server, hosting, storage and DR infrastructure.
• Coordinate with MSP to ensure maintenance, monitoring, patching, and capacity planning.
• Act as escalation point for infrastructure incidents and service requests.
• Coach IT colleagues and promote knowledge sharing across teams.
• Translate designs into operational services with architects.
