Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for our Newcastle office to lead civil design projects across drainage, highways and infrastructure for developers and authorities. You will manage a design team, coordinate with clients, and oversee progress from inception to completion.

The role requires a degree in civil engineering, strong AutoCAD/Civil 3D and MicroDrainage skills, excellent report writing and communication, and a proactive approach to delivering high quality infrastructure

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Good level of design experience in civils.
• Excellent report writing, communication and numerical skills required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civils 3D and MicroDrainage with good SUDs knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop team members and support their professional growth.
• Manage client expectations and project communications.
• Monitor progress on designs and ensure timely delivery.
• Oversee and navigate design approval processes (S104, S38, S278).
• Identify site constraints and design public highways, drainage systems and utilities.
• Deliver diverse schemes from inception to completion in coordination with the design team.
• Maintain strong written and oral communication with clients and stakeholders.

Job description

My client are an energetic engineering consultancy who provide services to the construction industry, developers and local authorities.

They undertake a wide variety of work including drainage design, highway and external works design, structural design, structural surveys, flood risk assessments and hydraulic modelling. They are currently looking to recruit a Senior Civil Engineer to join their team, based in the Newcastle office.

The Role:

• Experience within the house building sector, commercial experience welcomed.
• Manage team members and support their development.
• Manage client expectations.
• Monitor and manage progress on designs.
• Knowledge of all approval processes including S104, S38 and S278.
• Ability to identify site constraints, design of public highways, drainage systems and utilities.
• Proven experience in designing a variety of schemes from inception to completion.
• Ability to work with other design team members and clients in the design process.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• A solid understanding and experience in the delivery or all infrastructure aspects of projects from both a technical approval and client viewpoint.
• Supporting and developing junior staff members.

Your Experience:

• Ideally, educated to Degree level in Civil Engineering.
• A good level of design experience in the civils sector.
• Excellent report writing, communication and numerical skills required.
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civils 3D and Micro Drainage along with good working knowledge of SUDs.
