Job summary

Strata Consulting in Watford is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Civil Engineer on a full hybrid basis to support a growing workload in commercial, retail, industrial and residential sectors.

The role requires experience in highways, external works, flood risk and drainage, with BIM Level 2 capabilities and project coordination responsibilities. ICE Incorporated or Chartered status is encouraged with internal/external training support.

Qualifications

• Requires a Civil Engineering degree and a minimum of four years’ experience.
• Ambition to achieve ICE Incorporated or Chartered status with training support.
• Private sector experience and knowledge of UK design standards are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare highway and drainage designs with knowledge of UK standards.
• Produce BIM Level 2 compatible designs and coordinate in 3D with the design team.
• Manage projects, attend client meetings, and liaise with design teams.
• Produce reports such as FRA and drainage strategy documentation.

Our client has an opportunity within their Watford office for expansion to meet the current healthy forward workload generated by the impetus for growth in the UK within the commercial, retail, industrial and residential sectors. They are looking for a passionate Senior Infrastructure Civil Engineer to join their office on a full hybrid basis.

They have a varied workload ranging from large scale logistics developments in the commercial sector and residential schemes of varying scales, from pre‑planning through to construction, so the ideal Engineer would need to show experience in highways, external works, flood risk and drainage at all stages for these types of projects.

The role

• Preparation of highway and drainage design with a working knowledge of UK design standards is needed, together with the ability to balance several projects and meet project timetables.
• Production of designs that can be incorporated to BIM Level 2 status would be beneficial, with the ability to undertake 3D coordination with the design team to ensure that internal project work can be released in IFC or similar format to the required site grid systems.
• The successful candidate would be encouraged to manage projects, attend meetings and liaise with client, design team and third‑party representatives.
• Report writing skills (FRA, drainage strategy, specification etc.) would be required.

What you need to succeed

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• A minimum of four years’ experience with an aspiration to gain ICE Incorporated or Chartered status, with internal and external training support provided
• PDS line and sign design experience would also be beneficial
• Flexible and enthusiastic approach to working within a team structure
• Good communication skills across disciplines
• Clean driving licence
• To have private sector experience and a working knowledge in the use of Civils3D, together with Microdrainage, AutoCAD and Autotrack (vehicle swept path analysis) and Navisworks.
