Bestman Solutions is supporting a high-impact, mission-driven organisation in their search for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join a small, collaborative technology team.

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a wide-ranging infrastructure role where security, reliability, and scalability are front and centre — supporting work that protects vital sectors across the UK and beyond.

You'll play a key role in designing, maintaining, and evolving core infrastructure across cloud, on-prem, and virtual environments. From project delivery to hands-on support, your work will directly impact the performance and resilience of a highly secure operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support server, network, cloud, and storage infrastructure
• Lead end-to-end infrastructure projects, from planning through to deployment
• Manage and monitor systems for availability, performance, and security
• Administer and troubleshoot across Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Azure, and Microsoft 365
• Contribute to backup, disaster recovery, and vulnerability management processes
• Support across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line tiers — including participation in an on-call rota
• Maintain clear and up-to-date technical documentation
• Collaborate with internal teams and technology partners to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

What We're Looking For

• Relevant experience in a senior infrastructure or systems engineering role
• Strong technical knowledge of Windows & Linux operating systems
• Experience working with cloud platforms (especially Azure), virtualisation (VMware), and PowerShell scripting
• Proficiency in network protocols, Active Directory, GPO, and Microsoft 365 administration
• Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive, team-oriented mindset
• Certifications in areas like Azure, Cisco, or related infrastructure technologies are a plus
