Job summary

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) seeks a senior contracts professional to own the most complex contract matters across the Projects Group and infrastructure pipeline, influencing strategy and negotiations with external counterparties. You will lead contract formation, procurement strategy, and dispute resolution, advising senior leaders and boards.

A relevant degree plus MRICS or CiArb and NEC4 experience are highly valuable.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering commercial and contract management in complex organisations.
• Deep experience in complex contract procurement, development, implementation, and negotiation.
• Ability to analyse intertwined commercial, contractual and legal issues for senior decision-makers.
• Proven ability to influence outcomes through evidence, negotiation and sound judgement.
• Progressive leadership experience in demanding commercial and financial environments.
• Experience managing commercial challenges of major capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Act as the lead contract adviser across the Projects Group and infrastructure pipeline.
• Serve as the senior interface between commercial, project leadership, boards and external counterparties on complex matters.
• Lead contract formation, procurement strategy, tender documentation and final contract negotiations.
• Advise senior leaders on claims, risk and recommended commercial positions.
• Oversee strategic interfaces for capital contracts and maintain relationships with suppliers.
• Lead early intervention, claims resolution, escalation and dispute procedures.
• Prepare specialist reports and recommendations for review panels, boards and committees.
• Peer review contractual risks and advise on project controls and delivery models.
• Develop and embed contract management best practice across TfGM.
• Supervise Commercial Leads and support organisational change.
