Job summary

Strata Consulting in Reading is seeking a Civil Engineer with a keen interest in development infrastructure to work on commercial and residential projects, ensuring designs meet current legislation and high technical standards.

You will contribute to planning, detailed design and maintenance works including drainage strategies, SuDS, pumping stations and micro drainage modelling, plus S104/S278/S38 adoption processes to obtain statutory approvals.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering or similar; 4 years’ post graduate experience.
• Knowledge of highway design standards (DMRB, Manual for Streets).
• Experience in infrastructure for commercial and residential developments.

Responsibilities

• Provide design expertise for planning, detailed and maintenance works.
• Design drainage strategies, SuDS, pumping stations and micro drainage modelling.
• Prepare adoptable drainage solutions for S104, S278 and S38 processes.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and authorities to secure approvals.

Job description

We have an opening for a talented Civil Engineer who has a keen interest in development infrastructure. This is exciting opportunity to Join one of the UK’s leading independent design consultancies and enhance your career.

You will provide design expertise and support on a wide range of commercial and residential projects ensuring designs are prepared in accordance with current legislation, best practice, council policies and to the highest technical standards.

Within this role you can expect to work on: planning works, detailed design works and subsequent maintenance works including drainage strategies, SuDS design, pumping station design and micro drainage modelling. As well as the design of adoptable drainage solutions for S104 agreements, S185 diversion agreements and sewer requisitions, as part of obtaining statutory approvals for residential and commercial developments.

What you need to succeed

• Ideally a degree in civil engineering or similar with 4 years’ relevant post graduate experience.
• A good knowledge of highway design, and drainage.
• Knowledge and experience of highway design standards – DMRB and Manual for Streets.
• Experience in the design of both commercial and residential developments including infrastructure, external works and drainage.
• Knowledge and experience of highway and drainage adoption processes and legal requirements for S278, S38 and S104.
• Knowledge and experience of earthworks strategies.
• Experience of meeting attendance to discuss issues with clients, architects, contractors, local authorities and other statutory bodies.
• Good understanding and use of software packages including AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Site 3D and Flow.
