Job summary

Strata Consulting seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to join their Dorset office. You will focus on drainage and highway infrastructure design for developments, supporting project managers across the business.

You will manage multiple tasks, produce high-quality reports, and have strong time management. A degree in Civil Engineering and 5+ years' UK experience are expected, with hybrid working options available.

Qualifications

• Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years UK development-related infrastructure experience.
• Experience with S38, S278 and S104 processes.
• Drainage design from first principles; Causeway Flow proficiency.
• Experience writing flood risk assessments or drainage strategy reports.
• AutoCAD and Civils 3D proficiency; 3D designs for housing schemes.
• Knowledge of local standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical highway and drainage designs to support S104, S38 and S278 applications.
• Undertake a variety of technical assessments for new developments.
• Explain technical concepts to others including junior colleagues and clients.
• Check outputs, drawings and reports produced by junior staff.
• Prepare or supervise presentations and present information to groups.
• Manage projects with moderate supervision delivering on time and to a high standard.
• Write reports and liaise with Clients / Project Managers on project management.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Prepare or supervise the preparation of presentations for internal and external groups.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to meet the growing portfolio of projects within one of the UK's leading independent consultancies. Our client is looking for a skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join their Dorset office.

Your role would focus on providing drainage and highway infrastructure design on all types and sizes of new development, supporting and collaborating with project managers from across the business to meet the needs and expectations of our clients.

As a Senior Civil Engineer with a strong skillset in the infrastructure drainage sector you will be organised, capable of managing multiple tasks and competing priorities effectively, and demonstrate good time management. A creative mindset would be advantageous. Additionally, you will be self-motivated, able to conduct independent research, and produce high-quality reports.

The role

What you need to succeed

• A degree or higher qualification in Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in UK development-related infrastructure engineering.
• Manual for Streets,Sewerage Sector Guidance, local road standards and relevant national planning policy.
• Be experienced in the preparation of highways and drainage design and in particular S38, S278 and S104 processes.
• Knowledge and application of drainage design from first principles and capable in the use of Causeway flow software.
• Have experience in writing flood risk assessments or drainage strategy reports for development projects.
  Competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
• Have a good understanding of AutoCAD and Civils 3D and be able to undertake 3D designs of residential housing schemes.
