Job summary

Actemium Nottingham (VINCI Energies) seeks a Software Manager to lead software delivery across automation projects. Based in Nottingham/Ilkeston with flexible working, you will drive design, development, testing and commissioning of PLC/SCADA solutions for manufacturing and process sectors.

You will shape roadmaps, mentor the team, ensure quality and security standards, and collaborate with project stakeholders to deliver on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Proven leadership experience in software/automation projects.
• Strong knowledge of PLC/SCADA development and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the software engineering team, including recruitment and performance reviews.
• Own software delivery across the project lifecycle: requirements, design, development, testing and handover.
• Define and enforce software standards, version control and configuration management.
• Coordinate with project managers and design teams to align software scope, schedules and interfaces.
• Provide technical direction for PLC, SCADA/HMI, MES integration with ERP/cloud where required.
• Manage client relationships and present technical proposals at meetings.
• Plan FAT/SAT and on-site commissioning activities with troubleshooting support.
• Maintain quality, safety and cybersecurity practices in software development.
