Job summary

Ultra Maritime is a global leader in advanced maritime defence solutions. The role focuses on ensuring product supportability, shaping design for support and developing the support solution architecture.

You will work under the Head of Support to apply engineering judgement and deliver analyses across the lifecycle, including reliability and maintainability activities. Security clearance may be required for some roles; BPSS checks are mentioned as part of UK vetting processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a related field or equivalent required.
• Experience in a complex engineering environment is highly desirable.
• Security clearance may be required for some roles.

Responsibilities

• Tailor ILS scope and activities to meet user, customer and Ultra Maritime needs.
• Collaborate with designers to improve reliability, maintainability and usability.
• Develop and input the optimum support solution for each customer.
• Perform life cycle cost analyses, LORA, sparing analyses and FMEA.
• Elicit and derive support requirements and propose verification methods.
• Develop supportability cases and provide progressive assurance.
• Carry out reliability modelling and maintainability analysis.
• Assess human factors and potential for human error in systems.
• Prepare or contribute to technical manuals and maintenance guides.
• Assist with hazard identification and obsolescence strategy.

Working under the mentorship of the Head of Support, you will apply sound engineering judgement to ensure products are developed to be supportable, develop the support solution and acquire the necessary resources for support.

The focus of this role is to ensure the supportability of our products by helping shape the design for support and helping develop the support solution architecture.

No two days at Ultra Maritime are the same, but your responsibilities will include:

• In coordination with the ILS Project Lead, tailor the scope and scale of ILS activities to meet the User, Customer, and Ultra Maritime’s requirements.
• Working collaboratively with designers to improve the reliability, maintainability and usability aspects of Ultra's designs.
• Providing input to the development of the optimum support solution for each customer, within the context of a wider product and capability roadmap.
• Completing life cycle cost analyses, level of repair analyses, sparing analyses, failure modes and effects analyses.
• Eliciting and deriving support requirements and proposing verification methods for requirements.
• Developing supportability cases and conducting analyses to provide progressive assurance of support solutions.
• Performing reliability modelling and undertaking maintainability analysis to optimize support arrangements.
• Assessing the human element of systems, including assessing the potential for human error as a contributor to system failures.
• Preparing, or providing input to, technical manuals such as troubleshooting guides or operations and maintenance manuals.
• Assisting with the identification and mitigation of hazards through system hazard analysis.
• Formulating and implementing the obsolescence strategy for a product line.
• Supporting the continuous improvement of processes, policies and procedures.

Typically, a Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in a related field and experience in a range of roles within a relevant complex engineering environment.

May be required to maintain security clearance.

Security Requirements

This role requires you to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard Check (BPSS) as a minimum and some roles will require further national security vetting checks.

In line with Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance which can require further evidence to be provided.
