Job summary

WSP is seeking Senior and Principal ICA Engineers to transform process requirements into clear, buildable control solutions for water and wastewater assets. You will craft URS and control philosophies that guide system integrators, contractors and clients from feasibility to handover, shaping asset performance.

You will own ICA delivery on schemes, collaborating with process, mechanical and electrical engineers, operations teams and clients to ensure designs meet standards and project goals.

Qualifications

• Proven experience writing URS for water/wastewater assets.
• Proven experience writing control philosophies for process plants.
• Strong ICA design background within UK water.
• Good understanding of PLC, SCADA, telemetry and instrumentation systems.
• Experience reviewing integrator documents and FAT/SAT tests.
• Knowledge of DSEAR and CDM regulations.
• Confidence working with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead writing of URS for water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations and network assets.
• Write and review control philosophies detailing operating modes, sequences, interlocks, alarms and fail-safes.
• Collaborate with process, mechanical and electrical engineers and client operations teams to capture requirements.
• Ensure designs follow client automation, telemetry and SCADA standards.
• Prepare and review ICA deliverables like instrument schedules, I/O lists, datasheets and control system drawings.
• Review Function Design Specifications against URS and control philosophy.
• Attend FAT/SAT, support commissioning and site acceptance testing of panels, PLC/HMI software and SCADA.
• Support tender evaluations, bids and scoping of ICA work packages.
