Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Hydraulic Modeller to join a Manchester-based water and flood risk team. You will lead 1D/2D modelling projects, data collection, model build, analysis and client delivery on a range of flood risk assignments.

The successful candidate will have a Civil/Environmental Engineering degree, several years of hydraulic modelling experience, and proficiency with Flood Modeller or TUFLOW, plus strong communication skills. Hybrid working offered.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Water Management or a related discipline.
• Several years' experience within hydraulic modelling and flood risk consultancy.
• Strong experience using Flood Modeller and/or TUFLOW.
• Experience with 1D and 2D modelling.
• Good understanding of flood risk principles and UK drainage/water environments.
• Experience producing technical reports and presenting technical findings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with GIS, InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS or AutoCAD would also be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Developing, reviewing and running 1D and 2D hydraulic models
• Working on fluvial, pluvial and surface water flood risk assessments
• Model build, verification, calibration and sensitivity testing
• Interpreting hydraulic modelling results and identifying flood risk constraints
• Producing technical reports, drawings and flood mapping
• Supporting the preparation of flood risk assessments and drainage strategies
• Liaising with clients, stakeholders and other technical disciplines
• Providing technical guidance to more junior members of the team
• Contributing to project planning, fee proposals and technical delivery
