Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Lead Buyer in Aberdeen to provide end-to-end procurement support for complex direct materials and services. You will apply sourcing policies, interface with suppliers and internal teams, and help meet budgets and schedules.

Key responsibilities include supplier performance management, strategic negotiations, and collaboration with Operations, Engineering, and Quality. The role follows a hybrid pattern with on-site and remote work in the Aberdeen region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Proven procurement or sourcing experience in manufacturing or high‑compliance environments.
• Strong supplier management, negotiation, PO execution, expediting, and risk mitigation.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain dynamics.
• Proficient in SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems and data analysis for reporting.
• Excellent communication skills to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement across assigned commodities, suppliers, and work scopes.
• Own supplier performance and mitigate delivery, quality, and commercial risks.
• Build strong supplier relationships and understand manufacturing constraints to mitigate risks.
• Lead commercial negotiations to secure best value while balancing cost, quality, delivery, and requirements.
• Act as procurement focal point for Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Project teams.
• Manage multiple procurement activities in a fast-paced environment.
• Drive PO execution, supplier follow-up and expediting; provide updates on progress and risks.
• Identify supply risks and develop mitigation plans with stakeholders.
