Job summary

Astute People seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor for a major HVDC Converter Station project in the North East. You will lead commercial activities, manage subcontractor accounts, valuations and final accounts, and monitor budgets with the project team.

The role requires EPC contract experience, strong negotiation skills and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams on large-scale energy infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Proven Quantity Surveyor experience in power/energy infrastructure or major construction.
• Experience with EPC contractors on large-scale projects.
• Experience managing subcontractor accounts, valuations and final accounts.
• Understanding of NEC, FIDIC or similar contracts.
• Experience across civil, electrical and mechanical works.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial and contractual aspects of a major converter station project.
• Prepare and manage subcontractor valuations, payments and final accounts.
• Identify variations and claim protections; negotiate changes.
• Monitor budgets, forecasts, cash flow and cost-to-complete.
• Procure subcontract packages and evaluate tenders across disciplines.
• Provide commercial updates to senior management on performance and risks.
