Senior HV Engineering Lead for Renewables Substations

Job summary

Mint Selection partnered with a leading UK IPP to deliver utility-scale renewables, including Solar and BESS. The HV Engineering Manager will be the technical authority for substations and HV connections across the project lifecycle, providing leadership from development to operations to protect asset performance.

This newly created role offers the chance to shape how major projects are delivered and to establish best practice across an expanding portfolio, with close collaboration with Owners'

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in large-scale energy infrastructure development and construction, delivering transmission infrastructure, solar PV and/or BESS in the UK.
• Experience with design, construction, commissioning or operation of transmission-connected substations up to 132kV+, including protection systems and energisation.
• Experience with FATs, installation and commissioning of HV equipment; familiarity with HV Rules.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and managing Owners Engineer deliverables.
• Ability to shape structure in a lean growing organisation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain electrical engineering standards and technical solutions for substations and HV cable systems.
• Support project teams with design scope, studies and deliverables.
• Ensure design interfaces and contract compliance for substations and HV infrastructure.
• Provide HV engineering support during construction, commissioning and energisation.
• Collaborate with Grid team and operators on technical compliance.
• Capture lessons learned to improve future specifications.
• Ensure quality records and documentation are complete before handover.
