Uppingham School is seeking a HUB Senior Sous Chef to lead the Hub Kitchen, delivering nutritious, high-quality meals across boarding houses, dining facilities and school events. You will drive standards, manage a busy production environment and develop a capable kitchen team.

The role requires leadership, extensive food production experience, and a strong commitment to food safety and sustainability within an educational catering setting.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Professional Cookery, City & Guilds, or equivalent professional qualification.
• Food Safety Level 2 Certificate.
• Significant experience within a Sous Chef or equivalent leadership role.
• Experience in high-volume catering, education, or similar environment.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop large kitchen teams.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, allergen management, stock control, and budget management.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver meals across the School's catering operation.
• Oversee daily production to ensure quality, consistency, and timely service across all locations.
• Lead, coach and develop kitchen staff including Sous Chefs, Chefs de Parties, and Apprentices.
• Organise production schedules and allocate resources effectively.
• Coordinate stock management, purchasing, rotation, and inventory control.
• Monitor HACCP compliance, safety records, and hygiene standards.
• Support events, boarding houses, and school functions.
