Job summary

NonStop Consulting Ltd is seeking a Senior Magnet Design Engineer for a contract role to spearhead the HTS magnet design, manufacture and testing for a UK GOV fusion programme. The position is hybrid with 2 days per week on site at Culham, Abingdon, and a contract end date of 30 June 2027 with potential extensions.

You will lead the HTS model coil design, develop technical strategies, and oversee fabrication, assembly and testing while collaborating with cryogenics and quench-protection

Qualifications

• HTS magnet design and manufacture experience.
• Deep understanding of cryogenics and superconducting magnets.
• Experience using magnet engineering analysis tools.
• Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution.
• Technical leadership and delivery of complex engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead HTS model coil design and development programme.
• Develop technical strategies and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Oversee magnet design, fabrication, assembly and testing.
• Collaborate with cryogenics, HTS cables and quench protection experts.
• Work with international partners on the project.
