Job summary

Irwin & Colton is seeking a Senior Health, Safety and Environment Manager for our Abingdon site in Oxfordshire. The role focuses on ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance across a large research facility and working within a global strategy.

You will lead the safety team, manage ISO management systems, and drive risk-based improvements while engaging with contractors and regulators. A NEBOSH qualification with IOSH membership is preferred; IEMA qualification is desirable.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH or equivalent qualification and IOSH membership, ideally working towards the Diploma
• Experience in a manufacturing, chemical or related environment
• Excellent communication skills with experience engaging clients, staff and contractors
• Experience with ISO management systems
• IEMA environmental qualification is desirable

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the facility is fully compliant with UK legislation and the global strategy for health, safety and environment
• Acting as the key point of contact for health and safety across all mechanical equipment and hard facilities
• Auditing safety, health and environmental performance, reporting and investigating incidents and near misses
• Engaging with stakeholders including contractors, regulators and enforcement agencies
