Job summary

A recruitment company is seeking a Senior Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to lead HSE standards across UK locations. This role involves ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, shaping the HSE strategy at a Group-wide level, and managing a variety of responsibilities including risk assessment and training. The ideal candidate will hold NEBOSH and IOSH certifications and have significant experience in a senior HSE role. A driving license and national travel are required.

  • Prepare management reports, KPIs, and safety performance statistics.

Job description

RMS Recruitment is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to lead and manage HSE standards across all our clients locations. This is a senior, influential role reporting directly to the Group Managing Director and the CAGH Board of Directors, offering the opportunity to shape and drive HSE strategy at a Group-wide level.

  • Location: UK-wide (flexible base with national travel)
  • Salary: £50,000 £65,000 per annum (dependent on Experience)

About the Role:

The successful candidate will ensure full compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation, promote a strong safety culture, and support continuous improvement across diverse operations nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE policies and procedures across all Group companies
  • Oversee all Health & Safety matters, ensuring policies are effectively communicated and consistently applied
  • Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and audits across multiple sites
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, working with management to implement corrective actions and improvement plans
  • Liaise with the Health & Safety Executive, insurers, and other relevant external bodies
  • Carry out regular site visits to ensure compliance with Company and Main Contractor policies
  • Chair and lead the Company Health & Safety Committee meetingsProvide expert HSE advice and reporting to the Board of Directors
  • Deliver HSE training to employees and sub-contractors, maintaining accurate training records
  • Manage the Company Safety Management System and maintain all relevant accreditations
  • Prepare management reports, KPIs, and safety performance statistics
  • Ensure environmental responsibilities are met in line with current regulations
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by Senior Management
About You:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) essential
  • IOSH certification essential
  • Proven experience in a senior HSE role, ideally across multiple sites or business units
  • Strong verbal, written, and report-writing skills
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and influencing abilities
  • Confident communicator, able to engage at all levels including Board level
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally
