Job summary

Formula E is seeking a Senior HSE Manager to lead the HSE function for our corporate office and international events. You will report to the Safety, Security & Resilience Director and drive a safety-first culture across a touring calendar of races, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and robust risk management.

The role requires a Level 6 NEBOSH Diploma (or a bachelor's degree) and active professional safety membership, with strong leadership capabilities, travel readiness, and experience

Qualifications

• Level 6 NEBOSH Diploma or Bachelors degree in a relevant field.
• Membership in IOSH or IIRSM is desirable.
• Extensive managerial experience in UK health and safety law and practice.
• Experience with ISO 45001; international event exposure is a plus.

The Role:

We are looking for a Senior HSE Manager to report directly to the Safety, Security & Resilience Director, taking overall ownership of the day to day operation of the HSE function and guiding a high-performing team across our corporate office and international event calendar.

This is a pivotal, traveling leadership role that balances business enablement with robust risk and compliance oversight. You will be instrumental in driving a positive health and safety culture, serving as an ambassador of safety excellence, and ensuring our world-class events are delivered in line with our Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems, including:

• Strategic Leadership & Governance: You will work with department leads to integrate our HSE management systems across all functions, driving continuous improvement and strategic risk management. You will oversee budgeting, lead safety audits, manage software systems, and support key initiatives, including ISO 45001 implementation and ISO 20121 maintenance.
• Event Planning & Operational Oversight: You will act as the HSE Event Lead for complex races while maintaining oversight of all global events. From defining event safety concepts and creating Event Safety Management Plans to managing construction, crowd, power, and environmental risks, you will work closely with local consultants and authorities to turn complex risks into safe, successful race weekends.
• People, Welfare & Incident Management: You will lead and mentor HSE Event Leads, manage incident response and emergency drills, and lead thorough accident investigations. In partnership with the People Team, you will also design robust mental and physical welfare programs for employees and site stakeholders.

What we're looking for in you:

• The Expert HSE Leader: You are a Level 6 qualified practitioner (NEBOSH Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent) with appropriate membership in a safety body (e.g., IOSH, IIRSM). You bring significant managerial experience, a deep understanding of UK H&S legislation, and a proven track record of managing safety, compliance, and budgets in complex environments. International event experience and ISO 45001 expertise are highly desirable.
• The Collaborative Problem Solver: You don’t just find problems; you find solutions. With an objective, evidence-based mindset and excellent gravitas, you effortlessly influence internal stakeholders, local authorities, and international suppliers across varying local jurisdictions without compromising momentum.
• The Organised Strategist: You possess exceptional organizational skills, a flair for team and logistical planning, and the ability to work independently. Whether you are reviewing supplier RAMS, overseeing safety asset inventory, or conducting post-race safety analyses, you maintain a meticulous eye for detail and a strong focus on continuous improvement.
• Resilience and Adaptability: This role is built for those who thrive in dynamic, global environments. You are reliable, discrete, and comfortable with international operational travel (typically 1–3 weeks away at a time), bringing a proactive, high-energy approach to motivating your team through stretching, time-sensitive objectives.

Please note, this position involves a background check via our integrated platform, Veremark, as a standard requirement of the role.

This is a hybrid role and you'll be required to do 3 days a week in our Hammersmith London office
