Job summary

Story Contracting Limited seeks an experienced HSE Advisor to strengthen our health, safety and wellbeing focus across high-profile infrastructure projects. Based in Wakefield with site travel, you will guide teams to comply with relevant legislation and foster a proactive safety culture.

You will lead risk-based audits, investigations, and safety communications, engaging with site teams and supply chains. The role supports our commitments to training, wellbeing, and flexible working.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH cert (minimum) or Diploma, or working towards.
• IOSH Membership.
• Experience across rail, water and energy sectors desirable.
• Experience in accident investigation and root cause analysis.
• Ability to engage with site teams and sub-contractors to promote a positive safety culture.
• Excellent IT and reporting skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Forward thinking with ability to predict future risk based on past events.
• Understanding key requirements of regulations such as RIDDOR, COSHH, Working at Height and Confined Spaces.

Responsibilities

• Provide health and safety support to the project delivery team in line with requirements.
• Promote a positive safety culture across multiple projects.
• Coordinate HSE Action Groups to share learning and best practice.
• Undertake audits and assurance activities on site for compliance.
• Monitor and report health and safety performance.
• Conduct investigations to identify root cause and share lessons learnt.
• Communicate alerts, bulletins and industry learning.
• Liaise with the supply chain to embed safe practices.
• Represent Story Contracting at industry forums.
