Job summary

Sheffield Hallam University is seeking a Senior HR & Organisational Development Adviser - Reward to join the HROD team in a part-time, hybrid role. The post focuses on expert advice across reward, benefits, pay and job evaluation, while supporting development of reward practices across the University.

The successful candidate will work with managers and senior stakeholders, contribute to pay reviews, benchmarking, job evaluation, and policy development, and deliver training on reward processes.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in reward, compensation and benefits.
• Strong knowledge of job evaluation, ideally HAY and/or HERA.
• Experience with salary benchmarking and market-pay analysis.
• Experience designing or managing reward and recognition processes.
• Strong numerical, analytical and research skills.
• Good knowledge of employment legislation and reward practices.
• Experience advising managers and senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience supporting projects, policy development and training.
• Good working knowledge of HR systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on salary benchmarking, market-based reward analysis and job evaluation.
• Support annual pay review processes and retention through reward policy recommendations.
• Develop, implement and improve reward policies and processes.
• Produce analyses to support decision-making and train staff on reward processes.
• Collaborate with unions and stakeholders on reward initiatives.

Salary: £40,000-£45,000 DOE

Hours: 0.6 FTE - 3 days per week

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior HR & Organisational Development Adviser - Reward to join the HROD team at Sheffield Hallam University.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional with specialist reward knowledge who is looking for a senior-level role working three days per week.

The role will focus on providing expert advice across reward, benefits, pay and job evaluation, while supporting the development and improvement of reward practices across the University.

The RoleYou will work closely with managers, senior stakeholders and colleagues across HROD, providing specialist advice and guidance on:

• Salary benchmarking and market-based reward analysis
• Job evaluation and grading
• Annual pay review processes
• Pay, contractual terms and employee retention
• Reward, benefits and recognition programmes
• Reward advice during organisational change
• Developing and improving reward policies and processes
• Producing analysis and recommendations to support decision-making
• Delivering guidance and training around reward processes
• Working collaboratively with recognised Trade Unions and wider stakeholders

About YouWe're looking for an experienced HR professional with a strong background in reward, compensation and benefits.

You'll ideally have:
