Job summary

The Housekeeping staff provide a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness in line with National Cleaning Standards, infection control, and health and safety regulations.

The post holder will work as part of the wider Housekeeping team, offering an integrated and flexible service. Duties may sometimes include tasks in other areas of the Hotel Services Department based on service needs.

Main duties of the job

1. Maintain the required standard of cleaning services following correct procedures and schedules.
2. Perform various cleaning duties in accordance with ward/area/location cleaning schedules.
3. Operate mechanical cleaning equipment safely.
4. Replenish disposables and consumables.
5. Store cleaning chemicals and equipment securely and correctly.
6. Carry out specialist and one-off cleaning duties as required.
7. Assist with laundry duties when needed.
8. Where applicable, undertake ward-based duties such as:

• Supporting nursing staff with ward-based catering, ensuring appropriate meal provision.
• Regenerating food, probing and recording temperatures, and serving.
• Ensuring meals are served promptly and attractively, with necessary cutlery and condiments.
• Preparing dining areas and clearing after service.
• Recording waste levels and cleaning regeneration trolleys.
