Job summary

UK Atomic Energy Authority in Abingdon is seeking a lead for the Materials Research Facility hot cells to manage operations, safety and the handling of irradiated samples. The role will require close collaboration with scientists and multidisciplinary teams.

You will oversee collection and preparation of highly radioactive materials for large-scale campaigns, ensure high-quality technical documents and specifications, and mentor the operations team.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience in a high-hazard industry.
• Experience handling radioactive materials including remote operations in hot cells.
• Familiarity with Technical Management System and related procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation and maintenance of hot cells ensuring regulatory compliance and timeliness.
• Act as stakeholder for hot cell projects.
