Job summary

GAP Group in the United Kingdom is seeking a Regional Hoist Engineer to service, install, and maintain our fleet of Geda construction hoists across a defined region. Based from a home depot, you will travel to depots and customer sites to keep equipment hire ready and downtime to a minimum.

This hands-on, mobile role requires strong diagnostic and mechanical skills, a full driving licence, and the ability to work independently across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a hoist engineer or lifting equipment engineer with a relevant qualification, or time-served background in a related industry.
• Strong diagnostic, mechanical, and problem solving skills.
• Willingness to travel across the region and stay away overnight as required.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of lifting and Geda hoists across GAP fleet.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs at depots and customer sites within the region.
• Install, dismantle and maintain our hire fleet of construction hoists.
• Provide technical support at depots where backlogs, capacity or skills gaps exist.
• Complete planned servicing, repairs and refurbishments to support availability and minimise downtime.
• Check, test and tag equipment and complete service records and certificates.
• Travel regularly within the region, including overnight stays, to support operational needs.

We're looking for a skilled and flexible Regional Hoist Engineer to support our high performing Lifting division. If you're experienced in hoist maintenance, enjoy variety in your work, and thrive in a role where no two days are the same, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

Based from a \"home\" depot, you'll work across a defined region, supporting multiple GAP depots and customer sites as required. You'll provide additional fitting resource where demand is highest, helping to reduce downtime, clear backlogs, and keep equipment hire ready across the region. You'll also be responsible for installing, dismantling and maintaining our hire fleet of rack and pinion (Geda manufactured) construction hoists.

This is a hands on, mobile role that plays a vital part in maintaining operational efficiency and high standards across the business.

What You'll Be Doing

• Servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of lifting and geda hoists across the GAP fleet
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs at depots and customer sites across the region
• Instal, dismantle and maintain our hire fleet of construction hoists
• Providing additional technical support at depots where backlogs, capacity, or skills gaps exist
• Completing planned servicing, repairs, and refurbishments to support equipment availability and minimise downtime
• Checking, testing, and tagging equipment, accurately completing service records, test certificates, and associated paperwork
• Travelling regularly within the region, including overnight stays where required, to support operational needs

What You'll Bring

• Proven experience as a hoist engineer or experienced lifting equipment engineer with a relevant qualification, or time-served background in an industry with transferable skills is welcomed
• Strong diagnostic, mechanical, and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently across different depots and customer sites
• A flexible approach to travel and changing regional priorities
• Strong organisation and time management skills
• A proactive, safety focused mindset and commitment to high standards
• A full valid driving licence
