Job summary

Kier Group in the UK is seeking a Senior Engineer in the Highways Technology team to deliver ITS solutions across Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle and Penrith. The role blends hands-on engineering with leadership, working for a respected Main Contractor with a focus on innovative and legacy highways technology.

You will guide projects through concept to preliminary design, mentor junior engineers, and provide governance to clients and stakeholders while coordinating with the Professional

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or science-related discipline; Chartered or working towards chartership.
• Experience delivering ITS consultancy, design or project management.
• Knowledge of ITS, highways technology assets, IoT, telecoms and IP systems.
• Excellent communication with a practical, commercial mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead highways technology schemes from concept to preliminary design, including ITS solutions such as CCTV, VMS, MIDAS and communications networks.
• Produce high-quality technical outputs including designs, specifications, drawings, BoQs, reports and risk registers.
• Provide expert advice and technical governance to clients and stakeholders on innovative and legacy systems.
• Support feasibility studies, options appraisals and business case development.
• Mentor and manage junior team members, providing line management, coaching and support.
