Job summary

Blueprint Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Highways Engineer in London to deliver highways and infrastructure design across residential development projects. The role combines hands-on design with coordinating junior engineers and wider project teams.

You’ll work on a hybrid basis, with three days per week in the London office, and the contract runs for six months Outside IR35 at £38-£40 per hour LTD.

• Good working knowledge of Section 278 projects (beneficial).

Job description

£38-£40 per hour LTD | London | 6-Month Contract | Outside IR35 | Hybrid

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Highways Engineer to join a London-based team delivering highways and infrastructure design across residential development projects.

The role combines hands-on technical design with responsibility for coordinating and supporting junior engineers, making it well suited to someone who wants to remain technically involved while taking greater ownership across project delivery.

You’ll work on a hybrid basis, with three days per week in the London office.

The Role

You’ll be involved in:

• Delivering highways design for residential development projects
• Working across development infrastructure and associated external works
• Producing and developing Section 278 (S278) designs
• Undertaking hands-on design using Civil 3D
• Producing technical drawings and engineering information
• Coordinating highways designs with wider infrastructure packages
• Supporting projects through technical design and delivery stages
• Coordinating and supporting junior engineers
• Reviewing technical work and helping maintain design quality
• Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and wider project stakeholders

What They're Looking For

• Strong highways engineering and design experience
• Previous experience across residential development infrastructure
• Good working knowledge of Section 278 projects
• Strong Civil 3D capability
• Confidence producing highways designs and technical information
• Experience coordinating or supporting junior engineers
• Ability to balance hands-on design with wider project coordination
• Good communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills
• Ability to work from the London office three days per week
• A background combining highways design, residential development and infrastructure consultancy would be particularly beneficial.
