Job summary

Gloucestershire County Council's Highways Development Management Team is seeking an experienced Senior Highways Development Management Officer to assess residential, commercial and strategic development proposals, providing expert highway and transportation advice to shape safe, sustainable communities.

You will work with planning authorities, developers and consultants, promote active travel, support decarbonisation objectives, and help deliver safe, efficient networks while maintaining high

Qualifications

• Experience in highways development management, transport planning, highway engineering or related discipline.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and explain complex technical matters clearly.
• Minimum ONC or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transport Planning or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Assess residential, commercial and strategic development proposals and provide expert highway advice.
• Shape communities by promoting active travel and ensuring safe, sustainable transport networks.
• Collaborate with planning authorities, developers, consultants and elected members to manage impacts on the highway network.
• Contribute to service improvements and maintain high professional standards across the team.
