Job summary

Turner Lovell is seeking a Senior Highways Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of maintenance and improvement schemes across the UK, taking ownership of projects and guiding multidisciplinary teams to successful outcomes.

You will oversee design checks, site visits, and programme management, ensuring compliance with standards and NEC contracts, with a path toward professional registration and a full, clean driving licence.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering highways maintenance and improvement schemes.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage project programmes.
• Knowledge of highways design standards and NEC contracts.
• Full, clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design and delivery of highways maintenance and improvement projects.
• Managing projects from initial design through to delivery.
• Undertaking technical design checks and reviews.
• Carrying out regular site visits, surveys and inspections.
• Managing project programmes, resources, costs and deliverables.
• Supporting and developing team members through mentoring, training, performance reviews and effective people management.
• Ensuring health and safety is effectively managed throughout the design and construction process.
• Maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
